James and Diane Cochrane are celebrating the birth of their second son.

Little Joel Thomas Cochrane was born at the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald on July 16 at 9.57am, weighing 7lb 4oz.

Diane (33), a mortgage controller, and James (40), a process operator at Shorts, who are also parents to three-year-old Lewis, told the Belfast Telegraph that the staff at the Ulster were “exceptional”.

“We are sincerely grateful to the hospital staff for the safe delivery of baby Joel and all the aftercare we both received,” Diane said.

“We are so delighted and everything is going well.

“It's easier the second time around.

“The first time, you don't have a clue what to expect, but we are all prepared this time.”

Little Joel Thomas is named after his father James Thomas, Diane's dad Joe and James's father Tommy.

His older brother, Lewis, is thrilled to have a new playmate.

“We wanted to wait to find out at delivery if we were having a boy or a girl,” Diane said.

“Lewis danced in the living-room when he heard he had a new brother.

“He really wanted a younger brother and was first to be told. Everyone is so happy.”
