Cathy and Gavin Milligan, from Ardglass, Co Down, are celebrating the birth of their fourth beautiful daughter.
Cathy (33), a nurse, and Gavin (35), a fuel distributor, said they are thrilled to welcome the newest addition to their family.
Lydia Eimear Milligan was born at 10.11am on January 9 at Downe Hospital's midwife-led unit.
The healthy little girl weighed 8lb 11oz and measured 59cms when she arrived five days early.
The couple, who were already proud parents to three young daughters – Eva (6), Ruby (3) and Mary-Ellen (2) – did not find out in advance if they were having a boy or a girl. "I don't think I would have known what to do with a boy," Cathy said.
"I was over the Moon when they handed her to me.
"Gavin is absolutely delighted, too.
"He's glad she's here and healthy and that everything is good."
Cathy praised the midwives and other staff that looked after her so well at the Downe. "The staff were wonderful," she said.
"I had Eva in the Royal and the other two in the Ulster, so this was my first wee one in Downe. The treatment was brilliant."
Lydia's older sisters are adjusting to life with a baby in the house and enjoying having her around.
"They are killing her with kindness," Cathy said.
"I have to watch them."
Cathy said she and Gavin want to thank everyone for all their support since their latest daughter was born. "Everyone has been great," she said.
