Just born: Molly McKibben
John McKibben and Amanda Davidson welcomed their first child into the world on September 19, 2011.
Little Molly McKibben was born with a full head of blonde hair at 2.49pm and weighed a healthy 7lbs 1oz.
Proud mother Amanda, who was in labour for just under nine hours, said she was very pleased with her birth experience at the midwifery-led unit of the Lagan Valley Hospital.
“It was fantastic,” Amanda said. “I couldn’t have asked for any more from the midwives, and John was brilliant support. He was better than I expected.
“I want to say a big thank-you to all the staff at the MLU for their help.”
Amanda (25), a healthcare assistant, and her fiancé John (31), a factory worker, said they are loving being new parents.
“Everything is going great,” Amanda said. “We are coping really well.
“Molly was due on October 7, so we were very surprised when she arrived with us nearly three weeks early.” The Lisburn couple have been planning for months to make sure everything was perfect for the new addition to their family.
“We had everything organised in advance,” Amanda said. “We decorated the room in neutral colours and all the clothes we bought were bright-coloured, unisex items.
“We decided not to find out if we were having a boy or a girl, so she was a lovely surprise.”
Amanda said Molly looks like a good mixture of her and John.
“I think she looks very like her daddy, but my mum dug out photographs of me when I was young and she was the double of me as a baby. It’s lovely that people can see both of us in her face.
“Being early, she was a bit of shock to the system, but I couldn’t imagine life without her.”
Amanda and John said they are looking forward to adding to their family in due course.
“I would have another baby in the morning,” Amanda added. ”For the moment, we are very happy and enjoying our beautiful daughter.”
