Just born: Oscar Hearst
Meet Oscar — the best thing to ever happen to proud first-time mum Michelle Hearst.
The 31-year-old gave birth to the tot at the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald, on August 1 after a Caesarean section.
“We had a shortlist of |names for him, but I think Oscar is a good, strong name |because he has beaten all |the odds to get here,” Michelle said.
At 6lbs 3oz, Michelle cradled her precious newborn as she waited for doctors to allow them to go home in Comber, Co Down.
“He was diagnosed with a wee heart murmur, so I’m waiting to hear what the cardiologist thinks before we can leave hospital,” said Michelle.
“He should hopefully be |fine. I had a murmur when I was born and his dad had a heart- attack when he was| just 18 due to a viral infection, so he’s from a family of |fighters.”
Michelle and her partner Matthew Orme had been trying for a baby for a number of years.
She became pregnant after a successful first course of IVF treatment.
The pregnancy went well until Oscar went into breach and Michelle needed to have a Caesarean.
In spite of having little sleep over the past few days, Michelle is a very happy new mum.
“He is definitely the best thing I have ever done,” she added. “I’ve had no sleep for two days, but it’s worth it.”
