Gemma Taggart and Adam Graham are settling into married life after a beautiful wedding surrounded by their close friends and family.

The couple, from Downpatrick and Belfast, met five years ago at a nightclub where Adam (30), now an IT manager, was working.

Pretty Gemma caught Adam’s eye and he then employed his best courtship techniques and smoothest moves to woo her.

“Adam was working as a doorman at the time and I was on a night out with the girls,” Gemma said.

“We got talking and he handed me his mobile phone and told me to put my number in it. I did.”

Romance blossomed for the couple and they got engaged two years later.

Civil servant Gemma (31), said: “It was coming up to my birthday and Adam told me he was taking me away on a surprise break.

“He didn’t tell me where we were going until we got to the airport. It was Rome.

“We were out for dinner one evening and he got down on one knee at the Spanish Steps to propose. It was all very romantic.”

The in-love pairing then decided to have a long engagement and agreed the date of May 28, 2011 to tie the knot.

“We organised everything together,” Gemma said. “Our service was at Saint Patrick’s in Downpatrick. It was really beautiful.

“It was very emotional for us, but it was very relaxing, too.”

After the service, the new Mr and Mrs Graham and their 90 guests enjoyed a perfect reception at the La Mon House Hotel.

Their first dance as a married couple was Greatest Day by Take That.

Gemma said their special day was perfect.

“We had an amazing time. Everything was perfect. Nothing stressed us all day. We had a brilliant time.”

The newlyweds are just back from a sun-drenched honeymoon in Dubai and Mauritius.

But Gemma says nothing can ruin her mood at the moment — not even woeful June weather.

“We got back from our honeymoon last week. The weather was amazing,” she said.

“Everything is wonderful. Married life is brilliant. We are both loving it.”
