Nicola Chang and David Murphy were married on April 29, 2011 in a stunning ceremony at the Old Inn Crawfordsburn in the rolling Co Down countryside.

The newlyweds, from Holywood and Belfast, were destined for one another.

Both are successful businesspeople: Nicola is business development manager for Action Renewables and David is deputy secretary of the Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee.

The newly married couple met through a blind date which had been arranged by Nicola's sister.

Their first date together was at the Cultra Inn outside Holywood.

And just two years later the couple got engaged.

David proposed to Nicola at Crawfordsburn Country Park in January.

“It was truly very romantic as it was a beautiful, sunny crisp winter’s day,” said Nicola.

The couple then named the day for April 29 and enjoyed an intimate ceremony with 60 guests including friends and family.

There were no bridesmaids at the wedding.

However, the couple made up for this with two flowergirls, Anna (8) and Tory (6).

Thankfully, the unpredictable weather did not cause any problems on their big day.

“The weather was glorious. We spent most of the time outside in the courtyard and also had the opportunity to get photos taken at Helen's Bay beach and in Crawfordsburn Country Park,” said Nicola.

Guests at the wedding enjoyed the moment as the newlyweds took to the dancefloor for their first dance together as husband and wife.

The couple initially had trouble deciding on which song to choose.

“It was a tricky one as most love songs remind us of each other,” laughed Nicola.

They eventually settled on The Beatles’ version of Till There Was You.

The wedding exceeded even the happy couple’s expectations.

“We had the perfect day. Later that evening, we lit some Chinese lanterns to celebrate our new life together,” Nicola said.

Nicola and David are enjoying married life together, but have not yet gone on their honeymoon.

However, they are looking forward to not one, but several honeymoons throughout the year.

The beaming bride added: “We are fortunate enough to have several honeymoons planned throughout the year; some short city breaks, as well as a longer holiday in France this summer and a surprise honeymoon later this year.”
