Philip and Claire Hamilton, from Newtownabbey, are enjoying family life with daughter Abbie following their relaxing winter wedding last month.
Community worker Phil (38) and Claire (37), a pharmacy assistant, knew each other for many years, started dating in 2003, fell in love and were engaged over Christmas 2012.
"We talked about getting married but never got round to it," Phil said. "Then I got an engagement ring and put it under the tree."
Claire, of course, said 'yes' and the happy couple's marriage service and reception took place on January 18 at the Clarion Hotel in Carrickfergus.
Phil and Claire had a wonderful day with those closet to them. Their first dance as husband and wife was to a slow version of the James Blunt song Bonfire Heart.
"We had an absolutely fantastic day," Phil said. "We had all our friends and family there. It was great. I was a bit nervous at the start until the vows, but after it was a very relaxed and informal day and evening."
The couple's eight-year-old Abbie did them proud as flower girl on the day.
"She was absolutely stunning," dad Phil said.
The new Mr and Mrs Hamilton are looking forward to their honeymoon in Mexico later this year.
