Neala and Colm Donaghy from Dunmurry are enjoying married life following the simple, family wedding they had always wished for.
Law student Neala (27) and Colm (28), a chef, met in 2003 as teenagers and were friends for many years before they began dating in March of 2009.
The couple became engaged over Christmas 2012.
"It was something we had spoken about and then Colm gave me a ring on Christmas Eve," Neala said.
"It was so lovely."
Neala and Colm – who wore trainers on their big day – were married on May 9 at Christ the Redeemer Church in Lagmore in front of 30 guests.
"It suited us," Neala said.
"We kind of laughed the whole way through.
"It was unique.
"The most important thing was to have the people most important to us there.
"We didn't want to show off or spend loads of money. It was very low key."
The wedding party headed to Del Toro in Lisburn for dinner before a big family celebration at home.
"We went back to our house and then my mum's next door for a barbecue. Another 20 people attended, dad had his guitar, we were cooking and singing along."
Neala's mother had taken singing lessons in the build up to the big day and surprised her with a moving performance of Landslide by Stevie Nicks.
"We didn't have a first dance," Neala said. "There was nothing typical about out day.
"It was just what we usually do, a real party but more intimate."
Married life is going very well.
"Our honeymoon has been at home," Neala said.
"Redecorating the house has been our honeymoon.
"Everything is the same, nothing has changed, but we feel that bit closer together.
"The important thing was family, that was the main thing."
