Arai lift the lid on their new open-faced helmet

There’s something cool, in more ways than one, about an open face helmet.
In good weather they’re hard to beat and an added bonus is that peripheral vision is better than a full face.
The down side is that the lack of a chin bar removes some protection but, like all things in biking, you have to weigh up the pros and cons and make your own mind up. Arai has brought out four new paint designs for the popular SZ-F helmet and while it’s expensive at £324-99, the quality is definitely there and I’ve friends who swear by them.
Arai is distributed in the UK by Phoenix and the company is also the agent for Yoshimura tuning parts and the latest is a set of performance cams for Suzuki’s Hayabusa, ’08 onwards.
When used in conjunction with Yoshimura’s own exhaust system for the bike, the cams give an extra 3bhp over the stock cams. Cost is £1,103-76. ‘Busa owners start saving.
