Desi Henry achieved his first podium finish in the British championship with third place behind Welshmen Elfyn Evans and Tom Cave on the Scottish Rally.

Evans scored his second win of the series to retake the championship lead heading into the Ulster Rally in August. He won by 59 seconds from Cave in an R5 Ford Fiesta one-two with Henry third in his Skoda Fabia.

Meanwhile, Steven Kane was denied victory in the final hour of the 1,000 km Blancpain European Endurance championship round at the Paul Richard circuit in France when the GT3 Bentley Continental he shares with Guy Smith and Vincent Abril caught fire late in the race.

Having led for much of the previous five hours, during their last pit stop fuel dripped onto the hot brakes causing a flash fire and although it was quickly extinguished they lost two laps and dropped back to 13th.

Alan Davidson capitalised on the absence of Northern Ireland Formula Ford championship leader Noel Robinson to score a double victory at Kirkistown on Saturday.

He edged out 2015 champion Jake Byrne by half a second in race one but then won comfortably in race two from Stephen O'Connor.
