Belfast bistro The Potted Hen has been voted the best restaurant in Northern Ireland at a prestigious awards ceremony.
The Cathedral Quarter eaterie was named the overall winner in the province during the National Restaurant Awards held in London on Monday night.
The restaurant, which opened its doors in St Anne’s Square less than a year ago, was chosen by the National Restaurant Awards academy, made up of more than 300 chefs, restaurateurs and critics.
The judging panel was divided across the 12 regions of the UK.
Head chef Marty Murphy received the accolade at the ceremony held in Covent Garden on behalf of owners Dermot and Catherine Regan.
After scooping the title, Mr Regan praised staff for all their hard work and thanked customers for making it a success.
“It is fantastic to be given such a prestigious award in our first year in business,” he said.
