Mother-in-law completely ignores me

Fiona Caine is here to help if you have a relationship, sexual, marriage or family problem

For 15 years now I've struggled to cope with my mother-in-law who completely ignores me.

It would be easier to cope, I think, if she was rude or argumentative but she acts as if I'm not there! I’m so angry.

It's bizarre but what makes it worse is my husband sticks up for her if I complain. What can I do? AK

FIONA SAYS: EXPLAIN TO YOUR HUSBAND WHY YOU FEEL THIS WAY

Your mother-in-law is being intolerably rude and I'm not surprised you feel angry.

I wouldn't have put up with it for 15 days, let alone 15 years!

The one person who should be on your side, your husband, cannot or will not see just how upset you are.

He clearly doesn't want a rift with her but he's at risk of developing a rift with you.

Tell him just how angry you are getting and say that if he doesn't want you to finally blow your top he must find a way of getting his mother to accept you are now part of the family.
