My broken marriage is just a sham
Northern Ireland's number one agony aunt Fiona answers your problems
Dear Fiona, For the last five years my wife and I have lived separate lives under the same roof.
We both have good jobs, and our children have long since left home.
Everything is pretty well separated — we don't even eat together any more and our lives rarely, if ever, coincide.
Last Monday, when I went to work, I realised that we hadn't even seen one another all weekend.
I would like to end our marriage and start a new kind of life for myself and I suspect my wife would too.
We have been offered a very good price for our house by a developer and this seems to be a good time to separate.
Do you think I'm right and that I should go about separating everything?
You say it's time to separate but clearly you have doubts otherwise why would you ask my advice?
Talk to your wife and ask her how she feels; explain that you were wondering if the time may have come to separate and see how she feels about it.
