So upset by girlfriend’s threesome

Northern Ireland's number one agony aunt Fiona Hurley answers your problems

Dear Fiona, When my girlfriend and I started going out I didn’t care about her so her past didn’t matter.

Now I can’t get it out of my head that she had a threesome with her ex and his mate.

She said she didn’t enjoy it.

She claims he forced her into it and she ended their relationship afterwards.

You always think tramps do that stuff so I feel sick when I think about it because I love her.

Disgusted Fella

Dear Disgusted Fella,

You're visualising this as a sexually-charged, erotic scenario but in reality it was undoubtedly humiliating, embarrassing, awkward and abusive in that she was emotionally coerced.

To change your feelings of disgust and sickness, you have to try to change the mood of the scene in your head.

That is, stop imagining it as highly erotic and sexually charged.

Perhaps make them all look comical or ridiculous.

Keep watering down the emotional component and soon it won’t bother you.

Remember, it is how she relates to you in the present that matters and not her past.
