Toxic mate convincing me to get a boob job

Northern Ireland's number one agony aunt Fiona Hurley answers your problems

Dear Fiona, I’m fairly flat-chested but was okay with it until a friend started putting me down and making fun of me.

It’s really embarrassing and it has made me really self-conscious.

I get asked out a lot but decline in case the relationship develops and he has to see me naked.

I’m thinking of getting a boob job but I don’t want anyone to know as I’m sure she’ll make that another thing to tease me about.

What should I do?

Embarrassed Girl, Belfast

Dear Embarrassed Girl,

Your so-called friend is toxic and is eating away at your self-confidence to make herself feel superior, so she’s obviously threatened by you.

You need to gently extricate yourself from her company and find new people to associate with who can help rebuild your self-esteem.

Beauty comes in many shapes and sizes but, like most bullies, she’s focusing on a physical attribute that’s sensitive in order to control you.

You’re obviously beautiful and perfect as you are, and she resents the attention you’re getting from the opposite sex.

Remove her from your life and your self-image will change so positively that you probably won’t give surgery another thought.
