Big bite taken out of Apple’s iPad stocks

Ipad goes on sale at Apple Store in the Victoria Square, Belfast.
Worth the wait: Steven outside the Apple store last night
The first customer in Northern Ireland Steven Wilkinson leaves the Apple store in Victoria Square, Belfast with his new Ipad.

As iPad mania continues to grip Belfast demand is expected to outstrip supply, hampering hundreds of potential buyers this Bank Holiday weekend.

“If you want one, my advice is get down to the store as soon as possible”, was the recommendation last night from the Belfast Apple store.

Throughout the country, stockists had already reported dwindling stock piles yesterday.

In Belfast Apple representatives were advising buyers that they had “adequate” stocks.

However, the store then warned: “We can’t guarantee having any left by tomorrow. If you really want one, you should come down today to guarantee one. The store is completely packed with people.”

Apple sold more than one million iPads in the US in the first 100 days after the April launch, making it a faster seller than the iPhone.
