Author Sidney Sheldon dies aged 89 in California

The best-selling author Sidney Sheldon has died at the age of 89 at his home in California.

Sheldon, who had been suffering from pneumonia, became an icon in the 70s with novels like The Other Side of Midnight and Bloodline.

The writer also won a listing in The Guinness Book of Records as the world's most translated author.
