Belfast gets a bite of the Apple as first store opens in Northern Ireland
Wednesday, 17 September 2008
Apple will open its first retail outlet in Northern Ireland this weekend.
The Belfast Apple Store opens on Saturday in the Victoria Square shopping center at 9 am.
The Belfast store will be Apple’s 18th retail outlet in the UK.
Located on the upper ground floor the store offers Apple fans the chance to test-drive any Mac or iPod, experience iPhone and catch free workshops for all the latest Mac tips and tricks.
The first 1,000 visitors, will get a free Apple T-shirt and all visitors will get a chance to enter a competition to win a Mac and loads of accessories.
The opening coincides with four new stores in the US - also throwing open their doors this Saturday.
New stores will be located in Lancaster, Pa., Colorado Springs, Colo., Escondido, Calif., and San Mateo, Calif.
In the June quarter, the retail stores produced $1.44 billion in revenue for the company.

I enjoy Apple products. I think alot of time and thought has went into making them simple to use.
What i dont like, however, is their "Apple is a Lifestyle" approach.
Yet.. all you wanabe's will be crowding round the doors hurling your well earned money away for products, that while are good, can be gotten elsewhere for practically half the price.
All you're paying for is the Apple logo.

Good for all of my friends who stay in Northern Ireland. I'm sure they will be part of the first 1000 visitors, we could all use a free T shirt!

Who cares - PCs rule for adaptability, choice and therefore price.

I'm not an Apple computer user (a part from the Ipod touch) but I am happy for the Apple lovers here who will finally get their own shop.
