A hearing-aid manufacturer has designed a set of safe earphones which won't leave iPod users with long-term damage.
Phonak AG reckons one in seven people in the UK currently have some form of hearing loss and expects this to rise significantly with the popularity of the iPod and MP3 players - with some experts predicting that one in ten 30-year-olds will be wearing a hearing aid by 2020.
As a solution it has created the Audeo Perfect Fit Earphones, with foam tips which mould to the listener's ear and reduces external noise by up to 23 decibels, and allows the users to listen to music at a lower, safer volume.
The lightweight earphones weigh just 14g and come with bass and treble controls.
The Audeo Perfect Fit Earphones are available in black or white at £119.99.
