Teenager sacked for ‘boring’ job Facebook post
Friday, 27 February 2009
A teenage office worker has been fired after branding her job “boring” on a social networking site.
Kimberley Swann, 16, of Clacton, Essex, was dismissed after bosses were told of the Facebook remark. Miss Swann had been working at Ivell Marketing & Logistics, in Clacton, for three weeks before being fired on Monday.
Miss Swann, who posted the comment about a week into her employment, said it had been passed to her employers after she allowed colleagues access to her page.
Steve Ivell, of Ivell Marketing & Logistics, defended the firm’s action and said Miss Swann’s position had become “untenable”.

Given that many empoyers are now searching Facebook and such sites for information on potential and current employees you have to be careful who you allow to view your profile. Or even better, you stay in contact with your friends and gripe about your job the old fashioned way - over the phone or in person.
