You've had the taxes, the hefty credit card surcharge, the paid-for lunch and even the threat of a toilet levy, now Ryanair has told passengers that they could be charged an added take-off tax.
Ryanair has sent emails to passengers who are booked to fly from Spanish airports. The message cites a rule that says passengers are “obliged to pay” if there are any “government-imposed increases in airport charges prior to your travel date” .
Ryanair's chief executive, Michael O'Leary, said that the warning arose from the Spanish Government’s draft budget suggestion that airport charges may soar, and that objecting passengers could get a full refund.
