Alcoholic is jailed for role in incendiary find

Published 31/10/2009 | 00:00

An alcoholic who helped in the making of six improvised incendiary devices over five years ago has been jailed for 18 months.

Belfast Crown Court heard that 42-year-old Eugene Francis McNulty, of Cahan Court, Strabane, who agreed to serve a further 18 months on probation, had purchased some of the raw materials needed to make the devices.

Prosecution QC Liam McCollum said that McNulty had been stopped coming out of the flat at Lisnafinn Park in the Co Tyrone border town where the devices were later uncovered on April 28, 2004.

He said that the case against him would have been circumstantial and that police do not suspect him of involvement in any criminal activity in the past years.
