Arlene Foster: Can't see all the haters when I got my love glasses on

Arlene Foster appears to have hit back at her critics in a light-hearted Facebook post.

The First Minister has faced a barrage of criticism and calls to step aside over her handling of the Renewable Heating Incentive. On Thursday Finance Minister Mairtin O'Muilleoir said there could be no Executive as long as Arlene Foster remained in place for any investigation into the scandal.

Sammy Wilson, however, dismissed it as grandstanding saying the two main parties were close to a deal.

However, on Friday morning the DUP leader appeared to be taking it in her stride.

On her Facebook page a picture was posted of a cuddly little  guinea pig wearing heart-shaped pink glasses with the oft repeated phrase: "Can't see all the haters when I got my love glasses on."

The meme is often used on social media by high-profile users to dismiss criticism.

Within moments it was 'liked' by more than 100 people including South Belfast MLA Christopher Stalford and former Mid Ulster MLA Ian McCrea.

"Stay strong Arlene," another friend posted in response.
