Police are hunting arsonists who started a fire that destroyed three homes.

Detectives in Craigavon are treating the blaze which broke out during the early hours of yesterday morning as malicious.

Twelve people managed to escape from houses in the Pinebank area of Tullygally after the fire ripped through three properties.

It is understood a small pile of litter was set alight in a car port at the rear of a house.

The fire then spread to an oil tank and three homes were substantially damaged, a number of others were smoke and water damaged.

Meanwhile traffic was disrupted on the outskirts of Belfast yesterday after two cars went on fire.

At about 1.30pm yesterday police officers received reports of a vehicle on fire at Shore Road and a short time later another car was reported to be on fire at Hillhall Road heading towards Lisburn.
