Belfast thug's threat to set fire to wheelchair
A man threatened to set fire to a woman's wheelchair and home after attacking her partner, a court has heard.
Christopher Clarke repeatedly punched one victim about the head, leaving him with a bruised and bloodied face.
The 20-year-old, from Cherryhill Avenue, Dundonald, Belfast, was ordered to serve three years’ probation after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm and threats to damage property.
Prosecutors told the city's Magistrates Court that police were called out on April 11 after Clarke was seen pushing over bins.
The male victim told officers he had been struck a number of times by the defendant.
His partner said Clarke told her he would burn down her apartment and her wheelchair.
Defence solicitor Niall O'Neill said his client had offered unreserved apologies to the couple.
In addition to the three-year probation order, Clarke was told to pay £100 compensation.
He was also told to complete a drugs and alcohol programme.
