EU stoking Irish nationalism to make Brexit negotiations difficult: Nigel Farage
Former Nigel Ukip leader Nigel Farage has accused the EU of trying to "stoke up Irish nationalism" in order to make the forthcoming Brexit negotiations difficult.
The MEP was speaking on his LBC radio show on Tuesday evening.
He said: "Worst of all, in my opinion, the EU have indicated that if Northern Ireland were to opt to leave the UK and join up with Eire there would be absolutely no problem with a new united Ireland virtually automatically becoming a member of European Union.
"What they are doing is to try and make Brexit negotiations difficult for this government is they are prepared to stoke Irish nationalism and all that could come with that.
"That for me is the most contemptible thing I have heard so far."
