'Britain's heaviest woman' dies
A 45-stone woman believed to be Britain's heaviest female has died in hospital, officials have said.
Sharon Mevsimler, 40, suffered a suspected heart attack on Saturday at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.
Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust was unable to comment on claims in The Sun that fish and chips and family-sized buckets of chicken were smuggled into the hospital for her to eat before she died.
Mrs Mevsimler, who lived in Chelmsford with her husband Bulent, is understood to have had an operation to have a gastric band fitted in an attempt to lose weight and was on a strict diet, reports added.
A statement from the trust said: "The trust would like to send condolences to the family of Mrs Mevsimler, who sadly passed away at Broomfield Hospital on Saturday July 24.
"Due to patient confidentiality we cannot comment on any aspect of this case."
