Christians should wear a cross, says Bishop
Christians should wear crosses in public to show “they aren't going to disappear quietly from the marketplace”, a bishop has said.
In a letter published in a parish magazine, the Rt Rev Jonathan Gledhill, the Bishop of Lichfield, criticised companies that sack employees for wearing such jewellery and said Christians should not be intimidated into putting away their crosses.
He also attacked councils that tried to “rebrand Christmas” for fear of offending ethnic minorities, saying both decisions were made out of “sheer ignorance”.
“The Christian roots to our governance should not be nibbled away without discussion,” he added.
