Commuter station closed due to fire
One of London's main stations has been closed after a fire broke out in one of the restaurant units.
Commuters were evacuated from Liverpool Street station and services to and from the station were halted after the blaze was reported at 10.07pm.
London Fire Brigade said eight pumps were sent to the scene, where a fire was "in progress".
A LFB spokesman said: "It looks like a kitchen ventilation shaft in one of the restaurant units inside the station is alight.
"We currently have 40 firefighters on site. There is no information at this stage about anyone being involved or injured."
A Transport for London spokesman the station's Underground services were not affected.
A City of London Police spokesman said roads in the surrounding area of Bishopsgate were closed from Great Eastern Street in the north to Wormwood Street in the south.
