Detention for teen who abused younger sister
A teenager who admitted sexually abusing his sister has been handed an 18-month detention term and barred from contacting his sister for the next five years.
In sentencing the 19-year-old, who agreed to spend three years on probation, Belfast Crown Court Judge Geoffrey Millar QC told him it was clear that he had “manipulated the position to satisfy his own desires”.
The Newtownabbey teen, who cannot be identified to protect his sister's identity, was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.
The judge heard that when he was between 16 and 17 he subjected his sister to repeated bouts of sexual abuse, touching her inappropriately when she was between 11 and 12 years old.
