Top Ulster chef Michael Deane was celebrating today after scooping one of the biggest awards in the food trade.
His Michelin-starred restaurant Deane's in Belfast city centre was crowned Ireland's Restaurant of the Year at the Georgina Campbell Guide Awards in Dublin last night.
Michael, who is married to former UTV presenter Kate Smith, staved off tough competition from over 300 of Ireland's most celebrated restauranteurs to win the title.
The citation said: " Michael Deane has always been ahead of the posse and has several times demonstrated his unerring instinct for understanding the changes in demand before anyone else."
Last night's glittering awards ceremony took place in Dublin's Mansion House and celebrated 10 years of Georgina Campbell's Ireland - The Guide.
Ulster television chef Paul Rankin and his wife Jeanne were given gold awards for their contribution to Irish food and hospitality.
