Doctor accused of masturbating in front of school girls

A hospital doctor appeared in court yesterday accused of repeatedly masturbating in front of secondary school pupils on their way to class.

Krishnasamy Sangameswaran was charged with five counts of outraging public decency after a number of teenage girls reported him to police.

One witness also noted down a registration number which was later found to match the silver Toyota belonging to the University Hospital of Wales employee.

The 33-year-old from Bridgend, South Wales, denies the charges.

Prosecutor Hywel Hughes told Cardiff Crown Court the offences were alleged to have been committed while Sangameswaran was parked close to a comprehensive school in south Wales between October 2007 and July 2008.

After being arrested by police, the prosecutor said the defendant had conceded he had been in the area “two or three times” before, but only to assess the merits of the school in question.

Mr Hughes added: “What the crown says is that on each and every occasion it was the defendant present at the location.

“He was masturbating in an area where he could have been, and was, seen by children going to and from school, and we invite you to say that actions of that kind in which the girls explained are clearly capable of outraging public decency.”

The case was adjourned and will resume today.
