Colleges sign co-operation deal with US counterparts
Northern Ireland’s colleges have signed an historic agreement with American Community Colleges.
Colleges Northern Ireland, which represents all the regional colleges in Northern Ireland, has signed a memorandum of understanding for international co-operation with the American Association of Community Colleges.
The AACC represents almost 1,200 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and more than 11 million students across the States.
The agreement commits Colleges NI and the AACC to establish collaborations.
These include sharing good and innovative practices, exploring joint activities, investigating joint approaches to international development and encouraging research to enhance collaboration.
Trevor Neilands, vice chair of Colleges NI and director of Northern Regional College, said: “I believe there is much we can learn from each other about how we meet the needs of the communities we serve and how we can strengthen our pivotal role in supporting the local economy.”
