DVD aids Traveller childrens’ schooling
Saturday, 23 October 2010
A project has been launched to break down barriers to learning faced by many people within Northern Ireland’s travelling community.
Education Minister Caitriona Ruane launched the Early Years Traveller Toybox DVD Project in Belfast.
The DVD tracks the experiences of Traveller parents and children in early years education from early home visits through nurseries to integration into the formal education system.
Mrs Ruane said: “The project aims to ensure Traveller children and families have access to high-quality inclusive early education and family support, which will help to significantly reduce social and educational inequalities experienced by young Traveller children.”
