6. Dr Alan McKay from Belfast graduated with a PhD in Philosophy from Queens University his fifth degree from Queens. Dr McKay, a 68 year-old and retired consultant anaesthetist, first graduated from the University with a medical degree in 1970. No 1 Student: Graduation at Queens this week marks the end to a special year for Leonard Maguire from Dungannon. The Queen's dental graduate was ranked the number one student in the UK in the National Dental Foundation Training assessment procedure, after beating off competition from more than 1200 final year dental students from across the UK's 16 Dental Schools and from Dental Schools in Europe.
