University of Ulster to sponsor young scientists

The University of Ulster has announced it will sponsor the Best Project from a Northern Ireland School award at the 2011 British Telecom Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

Announcing the sponsorship, Professor Richard Millar, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Engineering at the university said: “We hope that our support will help to encourage local schools to get involved with the BT Young Scientist & Technology exhibition which in turn will help to produce the next generation of much needed computer scientists and engineers."

The Belfast Telegraph is a media partner for this year's exhibition, one of the largest science and technology events in the world.

And this newspaper is also running a student diary initiative to allow readers to follow six of the qualifying young people's projects.
