The Fofanny Water Works maybe an architecturial achievement BUT not advanced enough to stop a toxic runoff killing 300 fish a few weeks ago....
No Westlink?
Victoria Square surely deserves to win, if not for being the largest regeneration project in NI in recent history, then perhaps for completely revitalising a previously forgotten part of the city centre, or simply for providing a huge boost to tourism and shopping here. It has helped give Belfast & NI a face-lift, and great views from the dome too!
Fofanny can barely be noticed in the countryside landscape; it blends into the natural environment changing colour with the seasons. This is what our children will think all water treatment works will look like, sustainablility in action.
Toome By Pass is defenitely the best construction project in the last 10 years as it has beneffited thousands of south Derry people who travel to work in Belfast daily
Also, the the newly constructed Bridge, is now a land mark.
It has to be the Toome bypass. Look at the amount of people this project helps everyday.
Clear winner.
Absolutely fabulous, another great for N.I.
In July 2009 I spent seven of the most enjoyable, relaxing days of the year. The hotel is situated in the perfect setting for a stress free break. Just on the edge of Lough Erne, tranquility comes in a very natural form. Its a very impressive building both inside and out. The decor complements every aspect of the building as a hotel to put your feet up and be pampered or play a few holes of golf. I look forward to my next visit.
we had our wedding at Lough Erne Golf Resort. The service was second to none, meal was fantastic and the staff could not do enough for us.
Golf course was best ever that I have played
FOFANNY WTW - As the only Water Treatment Works in Ireland built underground Fofanny Works combined technical achievement with blending in to an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Mournes. It ensures that the water supply to a significant part of Northern Irealand is safe and clean. Fofanny Works also generates power from its own turbine to assist with the carbon footprint of the works.
The best construction project over the last 10 years should be a technical achievement, provice a public service, sit well in its local environment and be sustainable in its approach - Fofanny Water Treatment Works does all these things.
Having used the Toome bypass both before and after construction. I believe the contractors where very sympathics to the needs of the road users throught the works and also the users needs when constructed.
we stayed in the lough erne hotel
it was the finest hotel ive ever stayed in.
the food was brillant we just loved everything about this hotel.
I think that this is an excellant piece of workmanship, which brings not only Toome but the Mid-Ulster area right into the "00"'s. With style, colour and brillant lights at night it is really something for local people to be proud of.
The Lough Erne Golf Resort and Spa is set in a stunning location and does not disappoint in any way. Impressive, luxurious and welcoming it deserves every vote.
Fantastic hotel in an unbelievably super location, deserves recognition.
