Our masterplan concept is to turn Sandy Row into a “village in the city”. We hope to achieve this by making Sandy Row a self-sufficient community in terms of energy and resources.
We propose to pedestrianize the majority of Sandy Row turning the current vehicular access roads into green spaces and community allotments. The community allotments will act as a way of bringing the people of Sandy Row closer together, giving them something productive to do as a community. We also propose for a large vertical urban farm to be constructed at the bottom of Sandy Row on the site next to the Days Hotel. This means that the entire Sandy Row could have locally grown produce throughout the year and also a new business which would create jobs for the area. We will also build a new secondary school in the Sandy Row area which means local children will not have to travel on buses to the nearest school. Linfield industrial estate will be turned into green space which will be used for public allotments; this will encourage people from outside of Sandy Row into the area and improve relations between Sandy Row and other communities.
