Turbines cut 'could go to court'
A Stormont department could face a legal challenge over plans to cancel subsidies for new wind turbines from next year.
That was the view of a businessman who claimed the Department Enterprise, Trade and Investment pulled the rug from under the feet of farmers who took a chance on the scheme.
Paul Carson added: "In June, Jonathan Bell gave the industry confidence to go ahead and invest. Farmers took a chance and now the rug has been pulled from under their feet. It wouldn't be surprising if there was a legal challenge on the manner in which this is being conducted."
The department last night announced a consultation on proposals to end support from April 1 next year.
