Fermanagh PSNI station beefs up security

Extra security fences are to be erected around a police station in Co Fermanagh following the increased threat from dissident republicans.
The PSNI has applied for planning permission to raise the height of the protective steel fencing that surrounds Lisnaskea police station and to erect some new sections.
It has been reported that the proposals are linked to dissident republican claims of a sniper attack on the base four months ago.
The PSNI wants to raise the fencing by 2.5 metres and build extra fences surrounding the entrance of the station.
The move is a diversion from the PSNI’s ‘normalisation’ strategy which has seen the scaling down of heavily fortified stations to make them more community friendly.
