Diets can cause 'brain strain'

Women who embark on a diet in a bid to shift a few pounds may not only lose weight but their mind, according to findings revealed in the Irish Daily Star.

The paper stated that half of those who diet suffer from ‘brain strain’, symptoms of which include forgetfulness, depression, nausea and mood swings.

The research carried out by the New Atkins Diet group questioned 2,000 dieters with four out of 10 believing that embarking on a diet has also put strain on their relationship.

A quarter of those surveyed revealed that their quest for body perfection has even caused their work to suffer as a result.
