Gynaecological help service ‘can cut delays’

A new free GP advisory service, aimed at speeding up the referral process for patients with gynaecological health issues, is being launched today.

The service is accessible to GPs across Northern Ireland, who will have their query responded to within 24 hours.

The Windsor Medical Group, which is pioneering the service, is a private partnership of five consultant gynaecologists. Spokesman Dr David Hunter said: “We want to provide GPs with access to specialised opinion that will free up space for those who urgently need to see a consultant.

“A simple piece of advice from one of the consultants may facilitate the GP in managing the patient’s care without the need for referral to hospital.”
