A Pennsylvanian professor has discovered that women who exercise during the menopause experience fewer hot flushes for 24 hours after a workout in comparison to their more sedentary counterparts.
Steriani Elavsky from Penn State University who studied 92 menopausal women told the Daily Express that staying active is not only the best way to ensure wellbeing but ‘for women with mild to moderate hot flushes there is no reason to avoid physical activity for fear of making symptoms worse’.
He added that unfit women or those who suffer from the most severe of hot flushes will notice a small reduction after exercise while their fitter pals will benefit more.
