Ulster actor Jimmy Nesbitt gets to grips with wine gurgling in his latest television role.
The star of Murphy's Law has traded in his acting skills to become a sommelier in the latest advertisement from ASDA.
The new ad showcases Nesbitt's two day experience of travelling to France to visit the Bordeaux ASDA wine vineyards and then working with employees at an ASDA store back in England.
A far cry from the big screen, Nesbitt is taken through the paces of picking grapes, wine tasting, gurgling, stoking the fires and then returning to the store to promote the new mini wine bottles directly to ASDA customers.
The advert features the new mini Wine Tasters which contain one third of a full bottle of wine and are priced at £1.50 or £2 per bottle. The selection of 15 mini bottles allow ASDA customers to take home and try the wine and then redeem the price of against a big bottle if they like it.
Commenting on his ASDA wine encounter, Jimmy said: "The two days were a real eye opener and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed tasting the wine itself, although I'm still not convinced the blindfold was necessary."
ASDA's wine expert Phillippa Carr said she was delighted to have James on the team.
"He took to wine tasting like a true professional. His only disappointment was having to come home," she said.
Jimmy, who will be back in Belfast on November 2 to host the 7Up Go Belfast Awards, is the latest household name to appear in the successful series of ASDA advertisements which include Victoria Wood in the ASDA bakery, Paul Whitehouse at the Dairy counter, Liza Tarbuck on the checkout and Ian Wright at the fish counter.
