Larne FC approves £5m land sale to Tesco

Published 15/10/2008

A retail development worth over £5m will be built at Inver Park after shareholders at Larne Football Club voted to allow the land to be sold to supermarket giant Tesco last night.

Unde the plan devised by Larne Borough Council, the club would relocate to a new stadium — which is yet to be built but will be partially funded by the supermarket chain — and Inver Park will be completely redeveloped.

All proceeds from the sale of Inver Park will be reinvested into the new stadium which is expected to be completed for the club’s competitive season of 2010. Until then, Larne Football Club will continue to play at Inver Park.
