I am also concerned about the current problems of dogs being able to use the public footpaths as toilets.

I live in a south Belfast residential area and dog walkers regularly allow their pets to foul the pavement outside our house and others in our area.

On contacting the person operating a local mechanised road sweeper, I was informed that it was not the council's job to clean dog dirt off pavements.

As a result, my wife and I have taken the decision to patrol and clean our own section of pavement. We will continue to do so until the council decides to act to rectify this dreadful menace.
