As a lifelong trade unionist, I was concerned at the anti-Israel speeches
from some of the speakers at the May Day rally in Belfast's Donegall Street
on Saturday.
I have a Jewish friend who lost some of his close relatives in the Holocaust
and still has family members living in Israel. He is aware of my trade union
connections and I would be appalled if he thought I agreed with such
one-sided rhetoric. I don't, and I'd like to think I'm not alone among
fair-minded trade unionists.
