Let Ruane learn from McCartney
Tuesday, 20 May 2008
As a secondary school teacher of 30 years standing and sitting on a board of governors, I fully agree with Robert McCartney QC's perceptive article, 'Why Ruane would drive Einstein mad' (Belfast Telegraph, Wednesday, May 14).
It is a great pity that our Assembly at Stormont is now deprived of his obvious intellect and ability.
Education Minister Caitriona Ruane would do well to consult such a man.
However, she has proved impervious to the arguments of anyone other than her own, hand-picked group of educational 'stakeholders'. Mr McCartney's clear warning is that Mrs Ruane's vision, based on false ideology, is in fact the road to ruin for our renowned world class educational system!
