The Prince of Pink?

Friday, 4 July 2008

During the marching season it is likely that Iris Robinson will catch sight of William, Prince of Orange, perhaps on a mural or on an Orange banner.

At the Field for the Orangemen on July 12, she will probably hear speakers commending Prince William to our Protestant youth as a hero. Does she feel comfortable with this?

As someone steeped in the Orange tradition, she must be aware that Prince William had close and affectionate relations with a handsome young Dutchman, Arnold van Keppel, with whom he maintained a 'friendship' for most of his life.

During his reign there were frequent rumours about William's sexuality and claims that he had relations with both males and females.

William may have been Prince of Orange, but it seems he was also Prince of Pink.
