5 arrests after Galway explosives seizure

Monday, 8 September 2008

Five people have been arrested following the seizure of seventeen kilos of commercial explosives in Galway on Saturday.

Gardai from the Galway West Division and National Support Units made the discovery as part on an ongoing operation against organised crime.

Four men and one woman are in custody in various garda stations in Co Galway.

They range in age from 25 to 33, and are being held under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardai are treating the seizure as significant.
